Marking the 25th anniversary of the tragic car crash that killed her, this ground-breaking documentary examines the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Twenty five years on, many questions around what happened, and who is responsible, still remain. Featuring exclusive never before heard interviews, former detective and award-winning investigative journalist Mark Williams-Thomas examines some of the theories that have emerged since Diana’s death and sets out to answer key questions.
Could Diana have actually survived the crash if she had been treated differently at the scene?
And what impact did Diana’s explosive BBC interview have on the final years of her life? Did it set off a chain of events that actually led to her death?
The Panorama programme was broadcast and created worldwide headlines. In the interview, Diana exposed Royal secrets, speaking out about her and Prince Charles’s extra marital affairs. This led to the Queen ordering Diana and Charles to divorce and Diana was stripped of her royal title and protection. Conversations Diana had with Bashir prior to the Panorama interview, ultimately resulted in Diana developing a mistrust in even those close to her.
Prince William spoke about the deceitful way that the interview was obtained, expressing his sadness at how the BBC’s failures contributed to the fear, paranoia and isolation that left his mother unprotected and vulnerable.
